The Mobility Store has a home delivery and repair service. Patients who have been discharged from hospital can call 01793 701313 if they need anything.

“Our engineers are also waiting to repair or service your scooter, ensuring you can maintain as much independence as possible.”

Barnes Coaches is running a Happy to Help campaign where drivers will be available to run errands like food shopping and prescription pickups for elderly and vulnerable people who cannot leave the house.

D and R Furnishers is being regularly sanitised and all workshops and suppliers are working at full capacity. House visits are being made and the shop itself is open.

A spokesman said: “We hope that you are safe and well in this strange, unpredicted time. We would like to assure you all that at the moment it is still business as usual.

“We are monitoring the changing situation daily and will keep our customers updated should the situation change. We wish you and your families well and assure you of our best attention at all times.”

John Toomers Garden and Pet Centre on Stone Lane in Lydiard Millicent is developing a home delivery system. Plus, customers have the option of staying in their cars while goods are loaded into their vehicles.

Paul Toomer said: “We are open and it’s business as usual. However, we are most certainly taking the COVID-19 virus very seriously.

“We are very aware that there are vulnerable people & those over 70 who have had their movements very restricted. We are planning to carry on and develop our home delivery system.”

Its supply chain has not been disrupted and deliveries to racehorse trainers, stables and farmers are still going ahead.

Not Only Sofas store owner Mike Smith called on people to support retailers, is offering discounts and has taken steps to keep his customers safe.

These include regular thorough sanitisation of the shop and products, frequent communication with customers arranging deliveries, encouraging customers to keep their distance from delivery staff, who was their hands before and after delivery

Bower and Bailey Solicitors customers are being encouraged to get in touch by phone, email or, if possible, FaceTime instead of visiting in person.

Lawyers are working remotely in order to mitigate the spread of the virus and keep providing services to clients.

Mindcanyon CEO Steve Carr is offering support to those who are feeling stressed, anxious or depressed while working remotely.

He specialises in workplace wellbeing, mental health awareness and suicide first-aid, and is a qualified life coach with counselling skills

Mr Carr said: “I’d be happy to answer any questions and try my best to help in any way I can. I will do my best to make sure we go from surviving to thriving. We’re all in this together.”

Reynolds Blinds launched a no-contact service for customers. Virtual appointments via Skype or Zoom can be booked, then staff can guide customers through the measurements and fit of their new blinds.

Fabric samples can be delivered to customers’ doors, images can be sent and fabrics can be chosen online, then the blinds will be delivered.

A spokesman said: “We continue to operate as normal but with extra precautions.We thank you for your continued support.”

Aligra is cutting its profit margin out of its recruitment service costs for industries struggling for staff, only charging for the workers’ pay rate plus statutory employment costs.

A spokesman said: “These are really difficult times for both businesses and employees. Aligra has a responsibility not only for our internal staff welfare, but also our considerable temporary workforce.

“This unprecedented crisis will end, we will all come through it. We aim to keep as many of our workers busy and paid throughout this period, so can they pay their bills and look after their families.

“There are businesses and industries that are struggling to find staff due to increased demand caused by the crisis. If you are one of these businesses, we will provide our service ‘profit-free’ for recruitment during these challenging times.

“We hope with this initiative, we keep our workers busy and the wheels of industry turning.”

Samaritans is offering advice on its website samaritans.org/how-we-can-help which includes what to do if you think one of your friends or neighbours is struggling.

Steps are being taken to keep its volunteers safe. Anyone struggling can call 116123 or email jo@samaritans.org for support.

Hillier Funeral Service set up video conferencing for anyone unable to visit in person. Home visits from celebrants and ministers are not possible at this time.

Funeral services will continue as normal but attendance should be kept to a minimum. Both crematoriums can show webcasts of the service for anyone unable to attend them.

A spokeswoman said: “At this time we are trying to remain business as usual. The health and wellbeing of our staff and clients is our paramount concern and we have put stringent measures in place.”

Blackwells Funeral Directors is considering precautions to ensure funerals and cremations can continue.

Arrangements may have to be made entirely by phone, services could be cancelled or live-streamed, viewings will be restricted but clients should still be able to sit with the coffin.

Family members will not be allowed to carry the coffin, embalming and the reception of coffins into churches and homes will not be carried out, pre or post-funeral gatherings may not be allowed.

Goughs Solicitors is encouraging clients to arrange chats over FaceTime, Skype or WhatsApp. Elderly customers can have staff visit them at home and conduct meetings at a safe distance or even through a window.

Private client department head Emma Taylor said: "Our number one priority is the health and safety of our clients and staff. 'Wills through a Window’ is already making a positive impact on our clients who can have peace of mind they have a valid will in place but also that they are not putting themselves at risk doing so.

“Our Dementia Friends have undergone individual training to help them to identify some of the additional support someone with "dementia might need.

Whether this is the client themselves or a loved one who they are trying to protect, we have the background knowledge to ensure that we identify these issues from the outset and can make the entire journey easier and more approachable for all.”

McDonald’s stopped customers eating in but is continuing deliveries and drive-through services.

Toilets and handwashing facilities will still remain open where possible.

Drive Thrus and all McDelivery orders via Uber Eats and Just Eat, will be contact-free, with no physical contact between customers, employees and couriers wherever possible.
