POLICE chased a motorcyclist who dangerously overtook a lorry before fleeing on foot.
After seeing the motorcycle cross white lines to get past the lorry in Royal Wootton Bassett around midday on April 1, the officer indicated for the rider to pull over.
He stopped at the car park of Sally Pussey's Inn then accelerated away. During the pursuit into Swindon, the biker went off-road before being spotted in Whitehill Way and followed into Grange Park.
The bike was found in Holbein Close and the rider fled the scene on foot. A police dog handler attended and police dog Betty found the rider’s abandoned jacket and ID.
The man in his 20s has been spoken to and is due to be interviewed this evening in relation to the incident.
PC Leigh Mayhew said: “I know there are a number of witnesses to this incident who either saw the motorcyclist riding in Royal Wootton Bassett or into Swindon and I would be really keen to speak to them as part of the investigation.”
Call 101 and quote log number 99 of April 1.
