SWINDON singing sensation Fayth Ifil wowed Britain's Got Talent judges tonight with a performance of Tina Turner's Proud Mary.

This is not the first time the talented 12-year-old has sung on stage in front of hundreds of people.

When she was 11, Fayth played a young version of Tina Turner in TINA, which is why she decided to cover one of the superstar's songs for her BGT audition.

After initially playing the role of Young Alline, she shared the role of Young Tina with two other youngsters and performed a couple of times each week, taking part in the opening song and singing solo in the final number with the adult Tina.

She had starred in another West End musical the year before, as Tomika in School of Rock when she was just 10 years old.

The Cricklade Manor Prep pupil has trained at the weekends with the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts Swindon at Nova Hreod Academy since the age of eight.

Fayth played the title role in a PQA performance of Annie, appeared as an extra in the film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and in a commercial for the cruise ship Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas. She was also an interviewer for BBC Bitesize.

In 2018, she told the Adver that she was just seven years old when she realised she wanted to work in musical theatre.

Now she's competing for the chance to perform in the Royal Variety show after Simon Cowell pressed his golden buzzer to send Fayth straight to the televised talent show's semi-finals.

Her father Jerel played for Swindon Town FC, joining the club in 2003. By the time of his departure in 2009, he was Swindon's longest serving player. He now plays for Swindon Supermarine.
