SALISBURY businesses are urging shoppers "now more than ever" to continue buying gift cards to spend in the city, despite the Covid-19 lockdown causing most shops to be temporarily closed.

Launched in 2018, the Salisbury Gift Card can normally be spent in more than 130 outlets across the city centre, which helps independent businesses by keeping residents and visitors alike spending their money in Salisbury.

The Salisbury Business Improvement District (BID), which funds and manages the scheme, is now reminding the public to support the city's businesses by securing a gift card, which can be used now and once lockdown measures are eased.

Susi Mason, Salisbury BID director and owner of Casa Fina, said: “Now more than ever, we really need the local people of Salisbury to shop local. If people don’t come in and support our businesses in the city centre, we really will lose them.

“You can do your bit to support our businesses by purchasing a Salisbury Gift Card as a gift for a friend or family member. Salisbury Gift Cards can be spent in over 130 businesses in the city centre, so with the huge choice on offer, it really does make the perfect gift for everyone.”

The BID has also confirmed that the gift card's expiry date will be extended if need be, due to the uncertainty of when shops, cafes, restaurants, salons and leisure sites will reopen.
