TWO siblings have been building towards a fundraising total in aid of good causes.

Isaac Johnson, eight, and his sister Phoebe Johnson, seven, of Bingley, are holding a Minecraft-inspired 24-hour stay-at-home building challenge in aid of a mental health charity and a local wildlife rescue.

Both have spent 24 hours over two days over the weekend building up their charity worlds on the Minecraft video game for sponsorship.

They are taking build requests from friends and being joined by friends who have live accounts.

Isaac is raising for the Mental Health Team at Airedale Hospital and Phoebe has so far raised £241 for Kim's Wildlife Rescue in Crossflatts.

Their mother, Rachel Helm, said: “This was all their own idea as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

“Their home school project involved brainstorming fundraising ideas to carry out in lockdown, writing their own portfolios to promote their activities and create funding pages.”

In Minecraft, players explore a blocky, procedurally-generated 3D world, and may discover and extract raw materials, craft tools, build structures or earthworks, and depending on game mode, can fight computer-controlled "mobs", as well as either cooperate with or compete against other players in the same world.

Both siblings have set up Go Fund Me pages for donations. Go to Phoebe’s or Isaac’s to make a donation.
