Long queues were spotted over the weekend as a drive-thru branch of Starbucks reopened.

The tailback went round the waiting area and out onto Great Western Way.

Branches of the coffee chain started to open their doors on May 14, including the one in Barnfield Close.

Here’s what you told us on Facebook....

Colin Coles: “Do coffee drive-thrus really have to open there are more important industries that need to open before them.”

Andrew Little: “This has been happening ever since they have reopened. A police car just drove past the queue this morning.

“The people who live opposite can’t even get in and out of their houses because of this. Can’t understand why people want to have their coffee anyway.”

Dale Court: “What I don’t understand is why these drive-thrus are so slow.

“It doesn’t take long to knock up a drink. I remember when McDonald’s got busy they would have someone outside taking the orders from cars and putting them through so the food was being prepared whilst they were in the queue. Made it much quicker.

“It doesn’t seem very well organised.”

Hollie Doble: “My hazelnut latte was fabulous guys.”

Sonia Watts: “No one has anything else to do anyway, so why not queue?

“And if it has a drop down like most places it’s actually safer than any supermarket.

“If you live in a crowded home and sometimes want peace you might get a coffee and sit in your car alone. Or if you live alone you may want any small piece of interaction to uplift you.”

Martin Walker: “Great. So the streets will be littered with Starbucks containers as well as KFC now.

“It’s cheaper and easier to make your own coffee.”

John Weir: “Just goes to show what some people think is important in life.

“If you think that queueing up for a coffee for two hours is important in your life, then it also shows how dull your life really is.”

Julia Slack: “Just cycled past, made me chuckle. Lovely weather but sat in a car for two hours for a Starbucks. Costa no different.”

Mary Masterson: “Would be faster to make your own. Most people have coffee machines nowadays.

“I don’t understand it. We saw this at Costa too.”

Martyn Ellis-Parker: “Buy a decent coffee machine, think of the calories you are drinking in a latte and the like.”

Emma Viggers: “And all for the sake of a coffee. Could have had several at home, where life is safer right now.”

Dave Durston: “Who in their right mind could be that desperate for a coffee? The mind boggles, it really does.”

Diane Tomes: “I don’t understand why you would queue like that for a drink.”

Kate Hunt: “Really are they that desperate for a coffee? How much pollution have they caused for a cup of coffee?”

Paul Murphy: “Madness, queuing onto a main road so people can buy an expensive coffee.”

Jane Lambourne: “I really can’t understand some people waiting just to get a coffee.

“It’s cheaper to make one at home.”

Jo Lilley: “If people are this desperate for coffee they need to invest in a good home coffee machine, and make their own.”

Sandra Edmondson: “Wait till McDonald’s opens down the road.”

Kyle Lapham: “People will do anything for that Instagram picture of a coffee.”

Jason Burke: “Are people really that desperate for a coffee?”

John Weir: “We queue at supermarkets because we need to buy food to survive. We don’t need to queue up for a coffee.”

Charlotte Pugh: “Does it make a difference to your life what people do?

“I queued there last week. I’m a key worker and do you know what? The look on my kids' faces when I bought them home a treat and the reward I felt was perfect.

“It’s the only reward I currently get.”
