Patients and staff at Swindon’s hospital will be treated to a light show on Thursday after 8pm’s clap for carers.

Company Corporate Events will lay on the illuminations for the coronavirus fighters from 9.30pm. The event is not open to the public.

Managing director Andy Ashley said: “Corporate Events has been based in Swindon for almost 25 years and we are thrilled to have been able to give something back to our local hospital, the staff and patients with the support of our local partners during this time.”

A B&Q lorry is also expected at the Thursday night event, with the HGV displaying a special message of thanks for the NHS.

Since the clap for carers began, NHS staff, patients, families, police officers, paramedics and council staff have turned out every week to applaud the efforts of those at the hospital.

An ice cream van has even been on hand to dole out free ices to those tackling coronavirus on the frontline.
