LOCKDOWN dashed the Brammers’ Disney dreams – but you could help add a sprinkle of magic to their Father’s Day celebrations.

Dad Steve had hoped to visit Disneyland Paris with his family this year to make lasting memories for wife Katie and sons Jack, five, and Charlie, two, in the time he has left.

A brain tumour has cut the 37-year-old’s life expectancy to just eight months after surgery and months of chemotherapy treatment failed to fend it off.

June 21 is likely to be his final Father’s Day, so the family are hoping to make it a truly special occasion that they can treasure forever.

So they are calling on Adver readers to donate any Disney goodies they may have – toys, decorations, backdrops, life-size cut-outs of characters – for a themed party the family is planning.

Steve’s sister-in-law Jennie Maynard is spearheading the effort with help from friend Lisa Timms.

Jennie said: “As a family, we're absolutely devastated that Steve’s life expectancy has been cut so cruelly short and we have been trying our hardest to help and support them.

“Right now, they should be in Disneyland Paris making the most out of what time they have left as a family. We want to try to give them a taste of the Disney magic they wanted to experience with the boys.

“They are going through something really horrendous and they’re putting on a brave face but I just want to do something that makes them smile. We’ve had quite a lot of help putting this together, which has been lovely.

“When I suggested this to Katie, she got emotional but she was happy. It was her idea to have this party on Father’s Day.”

So far, the family have had support from Katie’s employer Sainsbury’s, Rays Ice Cream, and a balloon shop in Gorse Hill among others.

Generous friends and well-wishers raised more than £500 which will go towards buying the decorations, and they are working on getting video-messages from famous faces.

The Brammers raised £4,000 for Prospect Hospice to thank the charity’s staff for supporting them during the toughest time of their lives.
