ADVER readers agreed with the report suggesting that the town centre is one of the unhealthiest in the UK.
Mikaela Johnson said: "Sounds about right, but if people want to go into those shops, it's their own fault."
Russell Scott-Browne said: "You seen the state of most of the people walking through town? Embarrassing."
Thomas Craigie said: "It's hardly a surprise. Rents too high, retailers won't stay, it's aesthetically a mess, Wharf Green is an embarrassment, the TV doesn't work, the fencing and paving haven't been touched in years, the car parks are expensive.
"Whereas many other town centres have managed to complete regeneration schemes, Swindon has stood idly by hoping things will fix themselves. It's not worth going into town unless you are desperate."
Martin Palmer said: "There's nothing worth going into town for anymore which is very sad. I was born here and have lived here all my life and used to enjoy a trip to town but it’s an absolute shambles now."
Sam Keating said: "Needs condensing down, along with any additions or revamps not looking completely different to the last."
Don Maslen said: "If they stopped shutting other shops down it wouldn't be so bad. Glad I don't shop in Swindon anymore."
Richard Mason said: "You call that a High Street? You must be joking. It's an embarrassment."
