Charlie the lurcher was nearly put down by a previous owner because of his anxiety.

But now the rescued pooch is looking for a new loving family.

Charlie, eight, is currently being cared for by Mark Harding for charity SNDogs and he believes a home with people who are always around is best.

He said: “He’s a really friendly dog but he needs someone around all the time, he’s sort of a scaredy-puss.

“Charlie really needs to be with a couple or family with no young children and someone who is home all the time.”

Mark believes that Charlie shouldn’t be in a home with other dogs but he does get on with Mark’s other pets - snakes and turtles.

He added: “He loves to play with balls and squeaky toys and he’ll sit on the sofa and give you a cuddle.

“He can be funny with dogs so it would be preferable if he wasn’t housed with another dog.

“It’s not that he’s aggressive with other dogs but if they don’t want to play with him, he’ll just keep winding them up.”

Despite the separation anxiety, Charlie can quickly make friends.

Mark explained: “He was a bit scared to start off with but he got to know people quite quickly and he clings on to you, so it doesn’t take long for him to get used to you.

“He just really likes people basically.”
