A couple face an allegation they assaulted their two-year-old daughter.
Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard police were called to a flat in Swindon on October 29 last year following reports of a domestic argument.
A toddler had received a facial injury, which officers were told had been sustained when the girl walked into the path of a glass Calpol bottle that had been thrown across the room. Doctors have disputed the claim.
The couple, in their 20s, appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning. The man, who we are not naming in order to protect the identity of their daughter, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of child neglect. The woman entered no plea to the same charge.
Chairman of the bench Natalie O’Connell bailed the couple for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Swindon Crown Court on August 28.
