The detective who brought stab attacker Sheldon Thomas to justice branded the violence he dished out “completely unacceptable”.

Thomas pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm at Swindon Crown Court on Friday. It followed a stabbing in Oakham Close, Toothill, on May 10 last year.

His victim, a man in his 40s, was left with wounds to his chest, arms and legs. He managed to stumble to a neighbour’s flat for help.

Following the plea, Det Sgt Scott Anger of Swindon CID said: “Thomas lay in wait for the victim before launching an unprovoked and violent attack which left a man with multiple stab wounds, which required treatment at the Great Western Hospital.

“Violence of this nature is completely unacceptable and this incident would have caused a huge amount of concern and upset to the victim as well as those living within the area. Nobody should be allowed to make others feel like they are living in fear and we are committed to putting violent offenders like Thomas before the courts.”

Thomas is due to be sentenced on August 19 at Swindon Crown Court.
