Nobody should be afraid of leaving their home as a result of others' behaviour, police said - after two men were locked up for robbing a young man in Moredon.

The detective who brought 19-year-olds Jake Frampton and Lewis Morton to justice labelled their behaviour unacceptable.

The pair were sentenced respectively to 16 months and 14 months in a young offenders' institute last week after admitting robbery. A third member of the gang, now 17 and who cannot be named due to his age, was given a nine month youth referral order and told to pay £200 compensation.

The boys' victim was walking home on the evening of November 11, 2018, when he was circled by the thieves. He was punched and kicked. Morton hit him over the head with a bike seat post.

Reacting to the sentences, Det Con Emma Wood said: "This was a violent robbery which left a man with injuries to his face. This is unacceptable behaviour and will not be tolerated on our streets. Nobody should be made to feel frightened to leave their home as a result of the behaviour of others.

"I'm pleased these two individuals have been given custodial sentences to reflect the seriousness of their actions."
