The ice rink at the Link Centre will not be reopening this weekend.
A spokeswoman for Better, which operates the centre, confirmed the rink will be reopening in September but could not give a specific date.
Last night prime minister Boris Johnson announced that more leisure facilities, including ice rinks, bowling alleys and casinos, could reopen as lockdown restrictions eased further across England.
Better has previously said: “During lockdown, we emptied the ice rink at Swindon’s Link Centre to reduce unnecessary costs and minimise the environmental impact.
"Because during August we normally experience low demand for our ice rink (it is one of our quieter months) and because it would take up to three weeks to get the ice rink back up and running, we have taken the decision not to reopen but to plan for an autumn relaunch.
"We’ll advise our customers once we have a confirmed date.”
