23 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, official figures show.
It brings the total number of people to have tested positive for the virus in the town to 1,101.
It means the equivalent of 495.5 cases have been recorded per 100,000 people – now higher than the England average of 488.9 cases per 100,000 people.
Swindon council says the bulk of recent cases are in SN1 and SN2 postcodes. Data from August 5 to 11 showed that an area roughly covering the Railway Village and Broadgreen accounted for 34 cases – the area with the larges number of covid diagnoses in the south west.
The town remained an area of concern on the Public Health England coronavirus watchlist published on Friday afternoon.
