Knitters donated 92 blankets and enough woollen squares for another 28 to a Brighter Futures hospital appeal.

The Great Western Hospital charity is collecting the blankets for patients receiving end of life care.

The Brighter Futures team were outside the front of the hospital this week to collect the completed blankets and wool squares that can be sewn together to make patchwork quilts.

Knitters handed in 92 blankets and 2,287 squares to a donation station set up outside GWH.

Ahead of the event, Anne Norman of Brighter Futures said: “We would like to thank all the Blanketeers for their continued support and patience during this challenging time.

“We are so proud of to be a part of the Swindon community, and to be working with you to support patients at our hospital.

“We look forward to seeing all our Blanketeers again and can’t wait to see how many knitted items we are delivered. I know they will all go a long way in bringing comfort to families and their loved ones in their final moments.”

Another donation event will be held in October, Great Western Hospital said.
