THREE complaints about the conduct of councillors in Swindon will be heard next week – but in private.
The Swindon Borough Council’s standards assessment panel, which adjudicates on complaints about behaviour will meet at 2.15pm on Monday, September 28.
While members of the press and public will be able to attend via a weblink, the only item on the agenda which will be conducted in public will be the appointment of the panel’s chair.
The meeting will go into private session to consider three complaints – two of them are about the same parish councillor and issues and the third is a separate matter.
The first two matters were first considered at the panel’s meeting on August 13, but members asked the complainant for more details, specifically about what the councillor had said or done since becoming elected, or within the last six months.
The other item was also first brought up at the August meeting, and is in relation to a parish councillor’s alleged bullying behaviour in relation to allotments. The panel decided there could be a breach of the councillors' code of conduct but thought it was best resolved using informal resolution methods.
It agreed to look again at the matter next week should the complainant not be willing to take part in such resolution measures.
The meeting will be held in private as it is the council’s policy not to name individuals involved in such complaints.
