A WOMAN who was given a warning by police when they found she had failed to self-isolate after returning from holiday has now been handed a £1,000 fine after failing to follow their advice.

Police originally came across a vehicle without insurance, bald tyres and no MOT in Great Bedwyn, near Marlborough last week. They discovered the driver had returned from a trip abroad covered by quarantine restrictions but was not following isolation rules.

They told her to stay indoors and not to have visitors but on Sunday they received reports that she was still not self-isolating.

A spokesman for Marlborough police said: "Officers were called to an address in Great Bedwyn after a report was made regarding an individual who was failing to self isolate.

"The report stated that visitors were coming and going from the address, upon arrival this was confirmed.

"The individual was issued a fine of £1000."

Police said that the fine came after they had warned her to stay home. A spokesman said: "Originally in Great Bedwyn officers came across a vehicle which had no insurance for over a year, bald tyres and no MOT.

"The driver had also returned from abroad which required them to self isolate for 14 days, they had failed to do so. Subsequently the vehicle was seized, fines for the vehicle offences were issued and the driver was given a verbal warning to self isolate immediately."
