A YOUNG father and his 18-month-old girl, who were rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital after a horror crash on the A40, are expected to recover.
Josh Powell, 30, and his daughter were in a critical but stable condition after a fatal collision that took the lives of his wife Zoe Powell, 29, and their three other children Phoebe, eight, Amelia, four, and Simeon, six.
Five ambulances were called at 9.50pm on Monday night to reports of a serious crash involving a silver Subaru people carrier and a white 'heavy goods' vehicle.
Speaking about the condition of Mr Powell and his daughter senior investigating officer Sergeant Dominic Mahon commented: "Although their conditions are still serious, they are showing signs of improvement and are expected to make a recovery."
He also confirmed police are still investigating the cause of this tragic incident.
He added: "No-one has been arrested in connection with this investigation, and the driver of the HGV has co-operated fully with our investigation throughout, providing a witness statement to officers.
"I would like to re-iterate my comment from yesterday to please not speculate as to the cause of this tragic collision. To do so would be extremely distressing for the families, and will not assist our investigation in any way.
“However, I would still appeal for anybody who believes that they witnessed this collision and have not yet contacted police to please do so by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference number 43200321914."
