COATE Water Country Park is the place most people in Swindon are proud of.
Almost a third of people in the town who took part in an online poll said the beauty spot was the place most close to their hearts.
And Lydiard Park and the Town Gardens in Old Town followed close behind.
Swindon was among five local authorities in the West of England to run the Pride of Place poll, which asked people to vote for their favourite place in the their borough.
The poll, launched in October, was part of the Government's Connect to your Council campaign, which aims to encourage people across England to access their local authority services online.
Swindon Council leader Roderick Bluh said: "Coate Water Country Park is a great place to go for a peaceful walk or enjoy a range of activities, from fishing to mini golf.
"The nature reserve is a haven for wildlife and the park's accessible location makes it extremely popular with people of all ages.
"It was also encouraging to hear the recommendations of other places not included in the poll, which demonstrates the sheer wealth of attractions the whole borough has to offer."
Parks manager Martin Hambidge added: "Coate Water offers visitors a great day out.
"It has something for everyone - be that a relaxing environment with the large lake and wildlife or something more active.
"It's a lovely piece of countryside just on the edge of Swindon. I'm not surprised it won.
"A thank-you should go to everyone for taking part in the vote."
The survey also invited people to tell the council about their other favourite places, with a brief description on why they were so special.
Lower Shaw Farm, in West Swindon, Clouts Wood in Wroughton, Queen's Park and the Abbey Stadium in Blunsdon were among the places recommended by residents.
