MORE than £1,300 was raised for charity in memory of Bee Gill's mum.

Bee Gill lost her mother Tej last year after she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, she died aged 80 on Mother’s Day.

After putting on a coffee afternoon at Royal George at Pavenhill she raised £1,376 which will be going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

She said: "On top of that amount we raised £604.00 from Raffle tickets and from selling samosa's using Mum's recipe. The local businesses in Purton donated some amazing prizes - from massages, bottles of wine, meals at their pubs and restaurants, even free boiler services.

"I'm totally blown away by everyone's generosity. I am surrounded by such wonderful people.

"Cancer waits for no-one, this is something both mum and her kids discovered the hard way. From her diagnosis to the day she left us she had just three months although she was told she had six. These donations are going to make someone's life easier, maybe at the end of their lives, or at the beginning of a diagnosis."
