POLICE officers determined to put an end to anti-social behaviour are clamping-down on nuisance bike riders on an estate.

Burnley's neighbourhood policing team have been visiting the Stoops estate in the town following several reports of the anti-social riding of off-road bikes.

One man was issued with a section 59 order, something which allows an officer to seize and remove a vehicle, which he or she believes is being driven inconsiderately or carelessly and causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.

Police have also said they have another person guilty of nuisance behaviour on their radar and will be returning to the estate to ensure peace is restored for other residents living in the area.

PSCO Alex Catterall said: "After several reports of nuisance riders around Stoops we were able to catch up with one who has been given a S.59 warning.

"We have another rider in our scopes whom will be given a warning of impending fines as well as notifying his landlord of his anti-social behaviour.

"Please continue to let us know via ringing 101 or reporting online any nuisance riders particularly with information about where the bikes are being kept."
