Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council is set to become the sole trustee of the Memorial Hall.
The current committee of the town’s hall in Station Road approached the council asking it to become the new trustee.
The council is in the process of seeking permission from the Charity Commission and is hoping to have permission in place by January 1, 2021.
The Memorial Hall has been closed since March due to Covid-19 restrictions but it is currently being used by the NHS for clinics only.
They are continuing to take bookings for next year ahead of the transfer.
A council spokesperson said: “The town council would like to thank the Memorial Hall committee for all the years of their time and effort in managing the hall for the community.
“We look forward to working with the community.”
