POLICE are mounting extra patrols this weekend to ensure people follow the new restrictions.
Swindon entered Tier 2 along the majority of the country on Wednesday.
New coronavirus restrictions have been put in place to help reduce the spread of coronavirus.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are urging everyone to ensure they fully understand the current restrictions.
“We will have extra officers on patrol across the weekend to ensure our communities understand the restrictions and are adhering to them.”
The Government has outlined the following:
• Nightclubs and adult entertainment venues must remain closed.
• Pubs and bars may not provide alcohol for consumption on the premises, unless with a substantial meal, so they are operating as a restaurant. They may remain open for take-away services.
• Hospitality venues must stop taking orders after 10pm and must close between 11pm and 5am.
• You can only meet socially with friends or family indoors who you either live with or have formed a support bubble with. This means you cannot visit other houses (unless they are in your support bubble) and you cannot meet others in a pub or restaurant.
• If you are meeting outdoors, which includes a private garden or other outdoor space, the rule of six applies. The limit of six includes children of any age. You can meet in a group larger than six if you are all from the same household or support bubble or another legal exemption applies.
