Age UK Wiltshire is calling on all knitters in Wiltshire to take part in its Big Knit campaign.

Now in its 17th year, The Big Knit aims to create 1.6 million little woollen hats to adorn innocent smoothie bottles.

For each be-hatted smoothie sold in February 2022, Age UK receives 25p, which will help the Charity support older people facing later life alone.

New hat designs, including for a dinosaur, lion, unicorn and duck are available on the charity's website.

Pippa Webster, area manager at Age UK Wiltshire said: “We love the new hat designs and can’t wait to see how the knitters of Swindon and Wiltshire use them to create their own little hats. Every year we love seeing all the different designs come in from stripy bobble hats to grizzly bears. We need everyone to join us and knit as many miniature hats as possible by September 30 to help us hit our 40,000 target. It’s such a fun campaign to get behind and it does so much to help older people in our area.”

Completed hats should be sent to Age UK Wiltshire, The Wool Shed, New Park St, Devizes, SN10 1DY or Toothill Community Centre, Dunwich Drive, Swindon, SN5 8DH by September 30 2021.
