A MEDIC who tested positive for coronavirus has shared his experience in a bid to raise awareness of the dangers of the virus.
Consultant Cardiologist at Great Western Hospital Dr William McCrea was diagnosed with the disease very early on in the pandemic.
In a video published by Swindon Borough Council, Dr McCrea said: “What a year last year has been and what a year we’re going through already.
“Back in March, when I first has symptoms which I later found to be due to Covid, I didn’t know that at the time, and that’s the other important thing that we need to be aware of, is that we are not aware of the symptoms until it’s too late.
“We spread the bug for about five days before we become symptomatic, so this is very important to remember.

NHS staff may act like heroes but they are not invincible. Stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives.
Let’s do it for our GWH. 💙 pic.twitter.com/o9IgKOjSpj
“I only presented with a sore throat. I became very ill after a week and I was treated by GWH staff and luckily, I survived but I wouldn’t want any of you to get this infection.
“I think it’s important that we all take steps to prevent our loved ones and friends spreading this infection.
“So please adhere to the Public Health England guidelines – wash your hands, cover your face and make space.”
