STORM Christoph has caused several flood warnings to be issued around Swindon after a night of heavy rain.

Light rain is expected today with some sun but red and amber alerts are spread across Wiltshire.

An amber warning for floods have been issued for Fairford, Cricklade and Highworth.

Red alerts were issued between Malmesbury and Chippenham.

A spokesperson for Environment Agency said: “Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels have risen on the River Thames and small tributaries as a result of Storm Christoph.

“We expect river levels to remain high throughout the coming days in response to recent rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are in the area clearing weed and trash screens and operating weirs to reduce flood risk. Please remain safe and aware of your local surroundings and refer to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels.”
