STROUD District Council has confirmed that the future of the town's open air pool is secure.

Many residents have been in touch with the SNJ, questioning the current state of the Stratford Park lido, where it appears fencing is being removed.

Councillor Chris Brine, chair of Stroud District Council’s community services and licensing committee said: “Currently we are in a national lockdown and the Stratford Park Leisure Centre is closed.

"We know what a much-loved cherished community asset the lido is, and we appreciate it might not look its best during the depths of winter.

"However this is not unusual and the fencing which blew down during storms over Christmas is being replaced this week.

"Vegetation will be strimmed very soon as well.

"Sadly, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to open the lido between May and September last year as usual.

"Together with operator Everyone Active and volunteers from Friends of Stratford Park Lido, we remain committed to reopening it this year if the pandemic allows.
