FIRE crews battled to bring a barn blaze under control in Wroughton.
And it is believed the fire was started deliberately.
Around five tonnes of baled straw was set alight, with 200kgs of ammonium nitrate fertilizer involved.
Crews from Swindon, Stratton and Westlea were supported by Royal Wootton Bassett’s water carrier in their response.
A spokesperson for Swindon Fire Station said: “Fortunately the fire was discovered quickly, along with a quick response from crews enabled us to knock the fire down and had it extinguished by midnight. Arson costs lives.”
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "At 8.50pm on Saturday night we were made aware of a barn fire at Warren Farm in Wroughton. This was brought under control by colleagues from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the blaze."
