Wroughton: The Science Museum, which has storage facilities for documents and artefacts in hangars at Wroughton airfield, has been given permission to demolish an old boiler house, and the brick-built air traffic control tower at the site.

The boiler building is near the main entrance at Red Barn Gate on Devizes Road, and the traffic control tower is towards the western edge of the site near the hangar used by Swindon Karting Arena.

Liddington: James Buchanan has put in a proposal for a comprehensive set of changes to Liddington Manor in the village south west of Wanborough.

The Grade II* listed 17th century manor house could see a number of changes, including removal of modern addition and fixtures in the kitchen, such as a floating ceiling and partition between pantry and main kitchen.

New windows, matching casement windows already in place could be installed.

And a new arched entrance features. Mr Buchanan’s application says there is evidence of an old arched entrance, which has been filled in in the wall where the new one would go.

It adds: “The works will have a minimal impact on the heritage asset, but they are located in the place of an original opening and are in keeping with the opening in the same elevation. They will not have a detrimental impact.”

Hinton Parva: A chalet in the garden of a residential home which can be let out as tourist accommodation could become a permanent home if a new plan put forward by Randal Pakeman, who lives in Faringdon, is approved.

Mr Pakeman has applied for permission to use the chalet in Church Road in Hinton Parva south of Swindon as a home. His application says previous planning permissions acknowledge the site in which it sits as suitable for a residential garden.

And he says the one-storey wooden alpine-style chalet would be unchanged from the outside.

Liden: Bartosz Gzyl, the owner of 51 White Edge Moor, has applied to take over a narrow strip of land running alongside his garden from the borough council. The 72sq m strip runs past an electricity substation to garages in Arnbfield Moor.

Nythe, Eldene and Liden Parish Council has no objection to the change of ownership and use.

Stratton: A proposal by a Mr Fernandes to convert 2 Heritage Lane from a family home to a seven-person house of multiple occupation has been refused.

Planners told Mr Fernandes: “The proposal puts bin storage and parking in an inappropriate location and additional vehicle movement close to neighbouring windows results in an overdevelopment of the site and noise and disturbance to the detriment of the future and neighbouring occupiers.”

Extensions: Applications have been lodged to extend homes, or to build outbuildings or convert them and lofts into habitable rooms at: 36 Trecastle Road, East Wichel; 25 Clifton Street, Kingshill; 3 Jupiter Close, Blunsdon; 99 Beaulieu Close, Toothill and 9 Bampton Grove, Old Walcot.

Such plans have been approved for 44 Raleigh Venue, Walcot; 11 Brandon Close, Grange Park; 33 Whittington Road, Westlea; 159 Okus Road, Old Town; 9 Frome Road, Haydon Wick and 31 Seaton Close, Haydon Wick.
