A JUDGE ordered the probation service to look into whether a robber who stole £13,000 and a medal collection was a dangerous offender.
Richard Hunt, 37, already has a number of robbery convictions on his record.
Appearing before Swindon Crown Court via video link from HMP Bristol yesterday, Hunt, formerly of Station Road, Swindon, pleaded guilty to a single count of robbery.
Prosecutors say he robbed a Swindon man of £13,000 cash, jewellery, watches, coins, medals and a mobile phone on January 13, 2021.
Remanding him in custody to be sentenced on April 8, Judge Peter Crabtree told Hunt: “This is a serious offence, as you will well appreciate. The starting point is a substantial custodial sentence; that is even before I consider your record of offending.”
He said he wanted a report from the probation service to assess whether Hunt should be classed as a dangerous offender and given an extended sentence.
Susan Cavender appeared for the Crown Prosecution Service. Hunt was represented by Emma Handslip.
