A MILLIONAIRE caught at almost 100mph on the M4 was fined just £293.
Retired insurance sales executive Peter Came, 57, was clocked by police at 98mph on the motorway near Swindon on November 30, 2019.
He told Swindon magistrates in a letter sent to the court that he had been in a queue of traffic on the motorway with a car on his tail.
He’d eventually managed to pull his Land Rover Discovery over into another lane but had been caught driving at 98mph by the time he’d been able to do so.
He apologised to the court and said as a retired insurance man had always driven carefully in the past.
Came, of Silchester, Hampshire, pleaded guilty by single justice procedure to speeding.
Magistrates heard he had £3 million in savings, but had been retired for a number of years.
The bench imposed six penalty points, fined him £293 and ordered he pay £142 in costs and surcharge.
