Swindon Borough Council has warned about the town’s rising Covid case rate.

In a post on social media, the authority said Swindon needs to ‘shift the car out of reverse’ in order to follow the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

The seven-day rolling average for the town has increased to 115.7 per 100,000 from 91 per 100,000 last Friday.

This is much higher than the south west average of 68.4 per 100,000.

Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of the third national lockdown was revealed on Monday and begins with the reopening of schools on March 8.

The Prime Minister hopes to remove all social restrictions and reopen the country fully on June 21.

“No thank yous, not even looking up just oblivious to other people. Even a very loud ‘you are welcome’ doesn’t work. No particular age groups, just very uncaring people.

“Before anyone says don’t move for them, I’m sorry but I don’t want to put myself or anyone else at risk. No wonder the cases are rising.

Annette Duffy: “Our area is showing the second highest increase in the whole of England this week. Why is this?”

Andrea Murphy: “I only leave for school drop off and pick ups, and shopping and walks.”
