DETECTIVES have urged people to come forward with information after the latest stabbing on Swindon's streets.
Wiltshire Police said a 19-year-old man was chased down by a group on Wolsely Avenue, Park South, before being stabbed just after midnight on Thursday, March 4.
The force said the teenager received multiple injuries, described as serious but not life threatening. He remains in hospital.
Det Sgt Craig Rathbone said: “This was a very concerning assault by what we believe to be a group of males which resulted in the victim sustaining significant injuries.
“It is vitally important that we hear from anyone with information about this incident. We would also urge anyone who was driving in the area at the time to check dashcam footage for anything that might assist in identifying those involved.”
The stabbing is at least the third in recent weeks:
- On February 10, a man in his 30s was attacked by a gang of five in Verwood Close, Park North. He was stabbed in the leg.
- A week later, on February 16, a man in his 20s was set upon by a gang in The Parade, Swindon town centre. He was stabbed in the arm.
Earlier this week, police issued a witness appeal following reports of disorder in Torrington Court, Park North, and nearby Buckhurst Fields on Tuesday, February 23. Two boys, aged 15 and 16, and an 18-year-old man were arrested on a number of charges including affray and weapons offences, police said.
Wiltshire Police asked anyone with information about this week's stabbing to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
