A man who lied to police about his phone being stolen will learn his fate on Thursday.

Anthony Broadbent, 33, made the false claim to Wiltshire Police in June 2019, providing a statement in which he named the woman he alleged had stolen the phone.

Appearing before Swindon Crown Court on Friday via prison video link, Broadbent, of Dampiet House, Bridgewater, admitted perverting the course of justice.

Judge Peter Crabtree remanded him in custody to be sentenced on March 11, when he will also be sentenced for a number of drug matters to which he has already pleaded guilty.
