A PARISH council has started as it means to go on after taking responsibility for grass cutting.

South Swindon Parish Council has invested in new vehicles and its grounds team started trimming a fortnight ago.

Until this year the service was provided by Swindon Borough Council.

South Swindon parish chair, councillor Chris Watts, said: “It has been a very successful start for the parish council directly cutting grass in South Swindon.

“We have already had very positive feedback from local residents and I think starting earlier in the year to when Swindon Borough Council used to start cutting has paid dividends.

“In 2018 the parish council invested in increased grass cutting for fields and open spaces we were responsible for and we now cut green open spaces every three weeks instead of four.

“With regular cuts and good quality staff and vehicles residents can expect the best grass cutting service they have seen in many years.”
