A DRIVER was caught without insurance for a fourth time.
Graham Marshall, 58, was stopped behind the wheel of a VW Bora at around 10pm on May 2, 2020, on Roundstone Street, Trowbridge.
Prosecutor Mike Smith, for Wiltshire Police, said the officer had made checks on the vehicle and discovered it had no valid insurance policy.
The prosecutor said: “Mr Marshall showed the officer a screenshot of some insurance which related to a trader’s policy, but was unable to actually link that policy to the vehicle. Mr Marshall wasn’t able to show any other insurance and when the officer asked him about the purpose of the journey, [he said] he’d just driven from Melksham to puck up some food.”
The court heard it was his fourth offence of driving without insurance.
Swindon magistrates found the case against Marshall, of Kilmington, near Warminster, proved in his absence. He was banned from driving for a year, fined £500 and ordered to pay £160 in costs and surcharge.
