A CONVICTED sex offender walked from court with a suspended jail sentence after she admitted breaching a court order aimed at limiting her access to the web.
Alex Smith, 28, who was given a community order in 2019 for exactly the same offence, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment suspended for two years.
In March, Smith, of Beaulieu Close, Toothill, pleaded guilty to a single charge of breaching her sexual harm prevention order by failing to disclose a device for inspection by her offender manager.
Smith, then known as Matthew Burren, was given a sexual harm prevention order in 2015 after she was caught with prohibited images of children a second time and admitted being in contact with children online.
In 2019, she was given a community order after she admitted deleting her internet browser history. She had a number of pornographic websites bookmarked on her PlayStation 4.
On Monday, District Judge Joanna Dickens ordered Smith do 40 rehabilitation activity requirement sessions as part of her suspended sentence order.
A sexual harm prevention order, which was imposed until further order, limits her contact with children under-16, access to the internet and bans her from deleting her browser history or using VPN networks.
Smith must pay a £122 victim surcharge.
