AN ALLEGED purse dipper will stand trial in May.
Simon Ambler, 43, denies stealing a purse from a partially-sighted woman in Iceland, Havelock Square, on February 20, 2021.
Prosecutor Keith Ballinger told the justices it was alleged Ambler had taken the purse containing bank cards and cash worth £40 from the woman as she shopped in Swindon town centre with her nephew.
Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court, Ambler, of Sheppard Street, pleaded not guilty to theft from the person.
He was granted bail. His trial was fixed for May 28.
