A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a flat exploded in Toothill on Sunday.
Residents in Stamford Close had an early morning wake up call when the first floor flat exploded shortly after 7am.
Police are returning to the scene today to continue their investigation into the exact cause of the explosion.
The arrested man is believed to be the flat's resident, named locally as Anthony Lowe, who was taken initially to Great Western Hospital for treatment to superficial burns. He was transferred to the burns unit at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol on Sunday afternoon and he will remain in police custody for the rest of the day.
