Libraries run by Swindon Borough Council are now open again for limited services – but more facilities will be open come when lockdown eases further in the middle of the month

At the moment services currently available at Central Library and those at Highworth, North Swindon, Park and West Swindon libraries are picking up books reserved using the online catalogue, the click, call and collect where users can specify a book or allow library staff make a selection on their behalf, and returns.

A spokesman for the libraries service said: “It has been lovely to welcome back our staff and reopen all of our libraries, and we’re pleased to say our service is on track to continue its phased recovery as part of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

“From Monday, May 17 we plan to restore our Quick Choice Browsing service and to resume pre-booked use of our public computers.”

Quick choice browsing allows visitors to view popular books from across the library’s shelves which have been put together for ease of browsing.
