The results are in from the recent election day. It was called Super Thursday although the most exciting thing about the day itself was when we nearly went to war with France. I know politicians say they’ll bring back the good old days but I didn’t think they meant the Napoleonic era.

The main result is that Sir Keir Starmer needs to understand that if you treat the working class of the UK like you don't like them they probably won't vote for you. It's like a coffee shop telling coffee drinkers that they're all bigots and then wondering why they're drinking elsewhere.

While Nicola Sturgeon's SNP didn't win a majority they remain the ruling party and she has said that is a mandate for a second independence referendum.

I remember the "once in a generation" vote back in 2014, which makes me worry about the life expectancy up there. While Scotland voted against independence the Westminster Government gave greater powers and benefits to Scotland in a bid to swing the vote towards remaining in the UK.

That makes me realise that we need to call for Wiltshire independence. #Wexit

Firstly, I realise that Wiltshire doesn't have a coast but neither does Vatican City and that's an independent state. We would still have good relations with the rest of the UK who would be our main trading partner. They'll want to buy our ham.

I'd suggest that we still use the pound as our currency at first. Not only will that save us from having to establish a central bank it also means we don't have to rename any of the pound shops I like to go in.

People will question the strength of our post Wexit economy. Tourism will thrive. Good luck trying to find older stones in the rest of the UK. I also think we should add a toll to the M4 for foreigners, as the people from the UK will be to us by then. If Wales can put a toll on it so can we.

We have strong manufacturing and farming sectors. I may have started this as a joke but the more I think about it we could pull this off.

We also have military security with our army in Tidworth, Bulford and Warminster and RAF Lyneham giving us air superiority.

Let me start the campaigning now. We want an independence referendum. I will use this column to promote independence and on the day I will, of course, vote to stay.

I don't want to leave the UK but it would be nice if the mainstream politics thought about us a little more.
