No end to the chaos

So, ongoing and seemingly endless work going on simultaneously at Oxford Road/Nythe Road junctions, Dorcan/Covingham Drive and White Hart roundabout. Oxford Road area – utter chaos.

Does the genius responsible for all this ‘activity’ in such a small area ever come this way?

No, this Einstein must live out of town somewhere.

Also, does anyone ever monitor the worker, who seem to spend more time on their phones than actually doing anything constructive.

When will the end be in sight? Answers please, Swindon Borough Council.

All quiet on PCC front

I REGULARLY peruse the weekly columns by our estimable MPs and while they rightly mention the success of the NHS-controlled vaccine rollout, I have yet to see any comment on the expensive farce that is the Test and Trace system, contracts for which seem to be allocated to well-connected chums of Johnson, Hancock, Sunak and others.

Now Mr Tomlinson, in his latest column, waxes lyrical about the recent election success of his party, but no mention of the fiasco of the PCC election.

Their candidate was sanctioned, proposed and seconded by the Tories, so wouldn't our MPs agree that the cost of the election re-run should be borne by the Conservative party and not the taxpayer?

After all it seems there is plenty of money available to throw around.

Control the airports

Britain is leading the world regarding Covid-19 vaccines and we should all be very proud of our wonderful vaccines in this country.

But the Indian variant has now got well established in Britain and this means delaying our return to normal life.

Britain is continually letting in new variants through our airports and it is impossible to return to normal life as long as this continues.

Diabetes support

Living through the past year has been difficult for all of us and people with diabetes are no exception to this.

As summer is with us and restrictions are being lifted, many of your readers may be looking forward to holidays. Some of your readers with diabetes may be anxious, especially if it is the first time going on holiday since they were diagnosed with diabetes.

Going on holiday for people with diabetes is not quite so straight forward and requires more planning, especially for those treated with insulin. While many people are holidaying in this country, some may be going abroad and the security at airports and on flights means that carrying injection devices, blood glucose testing kit and insulin on planes and this requires prior arrangements to be made.

The InDependent Diabetes Trust (IDDT), a charity for people with diabetes and their families, provides a Holiday Information Pack with tips on looking after diabetes, whether in this country or abroad, in hot weather, foot care while on holiday, carrying tablets and insulin to other countries.

We are happy send this free Holiday Pack to your readers if they contact IDDT on 01604 622837, email enquiries@iddtinternational.org or write to IDDT, PO Box 294, Northampton NN1 4XS.
