INVESTIGATIONS into the alleged murder of Swindon man Darren Carley are continuing, police say.
It is now more than two years since the arrest of two people in connection with his death.
Mr Carley was last seen in Park North in January 2002, when he was just 24.
Human remains were found on farmland near Chorley, Lancashire, in July 2002.
However, it wasn’t until 15 years later in 2017 that advances in forensic science meant police were able to identify the body as Mr Carley’s.
In the wake of a fresh appeal for information in October 2018, a 50-year-old Gloucester man and a 36-year-old woman from Worcester were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police searched a property in Cinderford in the Forest of Dean in connection with Mr Carley’s death.
In a new statement, Lancashire Police confirmed that the two people arrested in 2018 remained under investigation.
“Our enquiries are very much ongoing,” a spokesman said this week.
“Anybody with information about Mr Carley’s death is asked to contact us on 101 (if outside Lancashire, ask for Lancashire Police) and quote log number 456 of October 4.”
Information can also be left with Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
