TWO attractions in the Swindon area have been ranked among the top five dog-friendly places in Wiltshire.

With staycations all the rage after lockdown, holiday firm Canine Cottages used data from TripAdvisor to compile a list of the county's favourite destinations for those with four-legged friends.

Jubilee Lake in Royal Wootton Bassett topped the list, with Lydiard Park in third place.

Finding a place to eat with a pooch in tow can also be tricky but Canine Cottages' Dog-Friendly Index provides some pointers on that score too.

The Bakers Arms in Upper Stratton features among the top 10, along with the Smoking Dog in Malmesbury, with Monty & Mabel's in Wilton top of the chart.

Digital PR manager at Canine Cottage Shannon Keary said: “With so many more people looking to explore what’s on their own doorstep with their dogs this summer, it’s fantastic to see the sheer number and diversity of places that welcome dogs across the country; hopefully this can only continue to grow.

"We hope that our Dog-Friendly Index tool helps to highlight the top spots for dog owners to visit near them, as well as highlight some hidden gems they may not have been aware of.”
