A teenager has been arrested as part of a Wiltshire Police operation to crack down on youth-related crime and violence.

The 17-year-old from Swindon was arrested today on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

Temporary Detective Inspector Matt Smith, from Operation Ager, said the team were committed to disrupting this sort of criminal activity in the town.

He said: “We know our local communities are concerned about young people causing trouble in Swindon, and particularly the link between illegal drugs and violent crime.

“We are working hard to disrupt this type of activity and help make our neighbourhoods safer.

“We would continue to encourage the public to report their suspicions to us – if you have information about drug dealing in your community, please tell us so we can take action.”
