A BUSINESS fete will take place next month encouraging customers to avoid the chains and shop at local businesses within the community.

Hannah Fruen who started the event and owner of Mamas Sweets Treats & Fudge talked about the importance of buying local.

She said: “Due to the pandemic, people have started taking up hobbies.

“They’ve started turning to arts and crafts, and turning them into amazing little businesses.

“It’s people like your next door neighbour, it’s not someone that you don’t know behind the scenes.

“It’s people you talk to on a daily basis and that’s who you’re supporting.

"We're after as much support as possible, I'm hoping for the best.

“Support local, support your friends and family and help the community when you can.”

Ms Fruen started her business last year in May and will host the event alongside other local businesses.
