Wiltshire specialist ops have revealed that 12 drivers will be contacted for being on their mobile phones during the M4 lorry crash.
The incident which took place on July 16 resulted in the closure of junctions 14 and 15 between Swindon and Membury Services.
A number of drivers on the M4 were found to be unsafe during the lorry crash.
Wiltshire Specialist Ops tweeted: “Following the lorry fire on the M4 a number of vehicles ended up striking the cones on the road too busy staring and filming the burnt lorry. Due to a few near misses 12 drivers can now expect to hear from us for being on their mobile phone!”
Highways England had urged people not to leave their car whilst police removed trapped traffic from the scene.
The junctions were closed for a substantial period of time due to the contents within the lorry causing a potential explosion.
There were no deaths reported during the incident.
