DORSET & Wiltshire Fire Rescue posted a statement warning people of the dangers in relation to bonfires and garden safety.
For those wishing to host bonfires over the summer, there are various steps to follow.
Site the bonfire away from a large building, don't use flammable liquids, have a garden hose on hand and being courteous to your neighbours are all recommended.
Do not light a bonfire on a windy day and if hosting a large bonfire, the rescue service has an online form which people will need to fill out.
There are also steps for garden equipment including keeping children and pets away from naked flames, refilling certain equipment in the open air and taking care when lighting garden heaters by never moving them when they are lit.
People concerned about the environmental impact of a bonfire are urged by the rescue service to contact Swindon Borough Council.
