FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a burning field near Cricklade.
Witnesses say two fire engines and another emergency services vehicle have been near Hallsfield Meadow for around an hour.
A plume of smoke can be seen for some distance.
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We’re currently dealing with a field fire off Hallsfield in Cricklade.
"Two crews are in attendance, from Stratton and Swindon. Water jets and beaters are in use. We were called at 2.10pm."
The spokesman later added: "The fire was extinguished using four hose reels, a light portable pump and beaters.
"The water carrier from Ramsbury Fire Station was mobilised but then not required."
